The U.S. EPA is proposing to make the most significant changes to rodenticides in 15 years, effectively removing rodenticides from the hands of users that rely on them as a primary means of maintaining rodent control.
Santa Fe Springs, CA (February 8, 2023) – The EPA is seeking public comments on their proposed mitigation measures for the registration review of rodenticides. These measures effectively remove rodenticides from the hands of many users that rely on them as a primary means of maintaining control, and fundamentally impact how professional rodent control is conducted.
Some potential ramifications of these measures include:
- ALL Rodenticides, including Block and Soft bait forms, will become RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDES (RUPs) in sizes 4lbs and up.
- Canceling products and uses, adding more requirements to the labels, and reclassifying some products to Restricted Use Pesticides
- Proposed changes affect: acute rodenticides, anticoagulant rodenticides, and zine phosphide products.
