Snake Out Snake Repellent

Did you know that ophidiophobia, or fear of snakes, affects one-third of the population? Small wonder! With over 3,500 species of snakes out there in the world, your customers often have a good reason to give you a call. But no matter what the species is, every single snake you encounter has a characteristic you can exploit by altering a snake's surroundings. And that's where Snake Out Snake Repellent comes in.

Snakes taste and smell the air around them through a receptor organ at the base of their nasal cavities called the Jacobson’s organ. This feature accentuates the strength and type of smells snakes can detect. As a result, it's possible to create a disagreeable environment that snakes don't want to have anything to do with if they can avoid it. Snake Out’s unique combination of ingredients creates a powerful taste/scent in the air that snakes find especially unpleasant, triggering an avoidance behavior that makes snakes want to escape the area where it is applied.

Snake Out is easily applied around the perimeter of any yard or area you want to protect. While Snake Out doesn't harm snakes, it drives them away from areas where people, pets and children may be active. Characteristics of Snake Out include:

  • May be used in areas where children and pets play.
  • Apply around homes, foundations, barns & outbuildings, garages, woodpiles, sheds, campsites – any place where snakes may be a problem.
  • Biodegradable, does not contain naphthalene.
  • The natural oil active ingredients are exempt from EPA regulation – EPA 25(b) exempt.
  • Will not harm lawns, gardens, flower beds or other desirable plants when used as directed.
  • Part of your Green Pest Management® program.
  • Available in 4 lb. Comfort Grip® containers, 25 lb. pails and 300 lb. drums

If possible, as snakes start to emerge from hibernation, start applying Snake Out around the periphery of the residential or commercial structure in a 6" to 8" wide band. Wait several days and apply another band farther away from the structure to push snakes away even more. As snakes move away from the periphery, treatment focus is to continue creation of a repellent band to reinforce their aggravation and to facilitate their further movement away from the structure. Repeat this process as needed to reinforce increasing their distance from the desired area and to reinforce repellency. For the second band around decks, apply underneath decks where snakes like to hide. One pound will treat an area approximately 8" wide by 50' long.

Red lines indicate the placement of bands of treatment as snakes move away from the structure.

Environmental conditions will affect the residual potency of Snake Out. Snake Out will keep its potency in protected areas for several weeks; however, rain will eliminate the potency of Snake Out and the product must be reapplied.

Providing snake repelling services will enhance your existing program or can become a revenue-generating add-on service. Plus, technicians will be a hero in the eyes of the customer!
