Non-Toxic Rodent Solutions for Account Problem Solving

Rodenticides placed inside tamper-resistant bait stations are always an efficacious way to control rodents at your client’s business or residence, but sometimes circumstances can call for implementing a non-toxic Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. Tools needed for employing non-toxic methods can be as broad as exclusion products and refuse removal, and as specific as products created for the sole purpose of deterring or eradicating rodents, such as rat attractants or mouse traps.

There are numerous non-toxic approaches for monitoring and controlling rodents. In sensitive accounts, such as schools and food warehouses where traditional rodenticides may be restricted, non-toxic bait is an ideal choice to track and identify rodent infestations. Bell’s popular monitoring bait, Detex with Lumitrack is a non-toxic bait with a special additive that makes rodent droppings glow bright green under black light. This provides clues about where rodents are traveling, living, feeding, and entering in your accounts. By tracking those droppings, Pest Management Professionals (PMPs) can identify the specific species and size of an infestation, as well as track rodent movement to harborage and nesting areas. Active burrows become visible under black light as well. Using a monitoring bait like Detex with Lumitrack at every account can provide valuable information to you and your technicians.

Monitoring baits provide evidence on whether or not exclusion techniques are working when bait is placed in exterior stations. If you find glowing droppings inside an account, it is proof that rodents are still entering the structure and gives clues as to where they are gaining access. Monitoring baits are also useful in maintenance accounts because they make bait stations more attractive to rodents. When rodents grow accustomed to feeding in a station, they leave pheromone trails in and around the area. This attracts more rodents to the bait station.

Detex with Lumitrack is available in blox bait and soft bait formulations – both offer superior bait acceptance and weatherability that PMPs have come to expect from Bell baits. Once rodent activity is detected, simply replace Detex with a Trapper T-Rex snap trap or Trapper glue board in a tamper-resistant bait station to eliminate the rodent population.

Snap traps with Bluetooth sensing technology are also an effective way to provide non-toxic pest management. Walk into your account and know instantly which traps have caught rodents with the Trapper T-Rex iQ. Each T-Rex iQ rat trap comes with a fully integrated battery, sensor, and antenna, which is water and weather-proof. These new features communicate directly with the Bell Sensing App which stores all the data for easy access. This smart trap is great to place in hard-to-reach locations. Make the most of your time & effort, and never check an empty trap again.
