About Target

Target Specialty Products is proud to be the West's leading wholesale distributor of specialty agricultural chemicals, application equipment, products, supplies, services and education. Target serves the western region of the United States from eight conveniently located branch locations and provides products and services to the following industries, in both the private and public sector: structural pest control, landscape construction and maintenance, golf course maintenance and turfgrass maintenance, production nursery, industrial vegetation management, aquatic, forestry and vector control.

To serve these markets successfully, the company has had to maintain a clear focus on intelligent growth - growth that stresses both service and quality.

When it was established in Gardena, California, 1969 (as A.S.L. Chemicals) by John Sarpolis and three investors: John Anderson, Robert Strom and Richard Lovejoy, the company operated with only two employees. Today, Target Specialty Products employs over 100 professionals who share in a vision of total quality.

Some key events mark the growth of the company. In 1972, the company moved to Cerritos, California and changed its name to Target Chemical Company. As Target entered new product and geographic markets, branch offices were opened in San Jose, Fresno, San Diego, Tempe, Arizona, Portland, Oregon and West Sacramento, California. In 2007, Target Specialty Products further expanded by opening its newest branch office in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As Target's reach became broader, so did its product line. Therefore, in 1986 the company changed its name to Target Specialty Products to signify a wider selection of products.

In 1993, the company adopted the Total Quality Process, focusing on improvements in efficiency and customer service. As a result of further growth, the company moved to a larger, more functional corporate headquarters and distribution facility in Santa Fe Springs, California.

Committed to Quality thru Service, Target is ISO 9002 certified. In achieving certification, all processes and procedures throughout the company from customer service to shipping and receiving are documented. ISO 9002 certification ensures consistent, reliable service.
